| Magnificent French cherub Putti clock. This clock has mint gold gilded overlay with an outstanding sculpture of mother and child. No clock that I have seen surpasses the elegance of this piece. It stands 22 1/2“ tall, 16 1/2” wide, and 7“ in depth. The dial appears to be black enamel with the signature, “HERBERT HOROLOGER BREVETE ETAMPES” stencilled on the face. The door on the back of the clock is made of glass. The rest of the case is adorned with cherubs, birds, and has lion's paw feet. Here is an opportunity to own a beautiful piece of French horology. It's a real treasure. The timepiece appears to work with a bellstrike stencilled within with the word “LANCTEAU.” | Magnifique horloge française à putti ou chérubins. Cette horloge porte une dorure à l'or fin à l'état neuf; elle est surplombée d'une sculpture représentant une mère et son enfant. Aucune horloge que j'aie vue ne surpasse celle-ci en élégance. Elle mesure 57 cm de haut, 42 cm de large et 18 cm de profondeur. Le cadran semble être d'émail noir et porte la signature peinte au pochoir: “Herbert, Horloger Brévété (sic), Étampes” inscrite dessus au pochoir. La porte arrière de l'horloge est faite de verre. Le reste du boîtier est orné de chérubins, d'oiseaux et repose sur des pattes de lions. […] Belle pièce d'horlogerie française. Le mécanisme d'horlogerie semble fonctionner, avec une sonnerie qui porte, peint au pochoir, “Lancteau”. […] |
